• Oct 3 – Emotional Intelligence Communication Strategies:Emotional Intelligence is the ability to identify and manage your own emotions and the emotions of others. It is generally said to include three skills: emotional awareness; the ability to harness emotions and apply them to tasks like thinking and problem solving; and the ability to manage emotions, which includes regulating your own emotions and cheering up or calming down other people. Individuals with a high EI are leaders, masters at conflict resolution and team building enablers.
• Nov 7 – Self Care and Client De-escalation Strategies:Self-care is essential to thrive at home and in the workplace. Jess Fenchel will share best practices to create a culture of safety, manage emotions, understand loss and manage future opportunities. As well she’ll share information of services provided by Access Services to manage clients in crisis for organizational safety.
About our guest speaker:
Jessica Fenchel has been providing therapy, oversight and leadership in community behavioral and school programs since 2003. She has a Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling Psychology from LaSalle University and extensive training and experience in crisis work, program start up/staff development, and teamwork. In addition, Jess received additional training in behavioral intervention and completed a certificate in trauma from the Global Trauma Recovery Institute. In her role as Senior Director for Adult Behavioral Health at Access Services, Jess also oversees the Peer Support Talk Line and the Starting Point Program, a mobile psychiatric rehabilitation program in Montgomery County.
