Committees
TriCounty Community Network’s most important community contribution are the tireless problem solving of the organization’s committees. TCN committees are comprised of nonprofit organizations, businesses and individuals that have interest in a specific community issue.  Most of TCN’s committee meetings are held immediately following the organizations general monthly meeting, providing a convenient way for members and meeting attendees to get involved in committee work. Committee work requires a commitment of about 1-3 hours per month for 10 months. So, for 13 hours per year you could make a big impact on community needs in our area!

Community Sustainability

There are many definitions and there are many different ways for communities to attain a more sustainable future. The sustainability of a community depends on creating and maintaining its economic and environmental health, promoting social equity, and fostering broad-based citizen participation in planning and implementation (community sustainability, 2016).

The Community Sustainability Committee focuses on projects and programs that impact the greater good.  Specifically, the committee works in the areas of workforce development, environmental concerns and disaster preparedness.

Youth Empowerment

Adolescence is a significant transition period and a unique window of opportunity to shape the healthy and successful development of future generations (care, 2016).  The Youth Empowerment Committee is focused on the concerns of local children, youth and young adults.  Projects include providing mentoring, school based presentations and programming, and leadership on issues impacting children.

Caregivers Support

An estimated 21% of households in the United States are impacted by caregiving responsibilities (NAC, 2004). The Caregivers Support Committee is providing unique and sustainable ways to address the issues of elder care and aging.  The committee focuses on supporting caregivers, and providing programs and projects that support the aging and adult population.

Community Partners Against Abuse

On average, nearly 20 people per minute are abused by their intimate partner.  This statistic is one of the many that underscore the need for proactive conversation and initiatives that support anti-domestic violence causes.  The Community Partners Against Abuse committee develops projects and supportive programming to educate, empower and support organizations and individuals to this end.

Homeless Services

The Homeless Services is a local change effort to impact chronic homelessness.  TCN has a leadership role in this strong community movement addressing the needs of the homeless population.  This committee works to collaboratively focus on the needs of the homeless in our community.  The committee meets outside of the TCN general meetings.
